Ladies, am I the only one that wishes that I had 24/7 access to hair and makeup? I have never been one that was great in that department to begin with. Honestly, I still have not learned how to french braid my daughter’s hair. That would be fine if she was still an itty bitty, but she is 10. Yes, sad I know! While I am no expert in the beauty field, I do like to look pretty and have figured things out. Being a working mom, I have to make things as simple as possible. I have discovered 5 morning beauty hacks for working moms that will simplify your morning. You may even have time to drink a hot cup of coffee before you head out the door!
Drink Water When You Wake Up
Keeping yourself hydrated is the best way to keep your skin plump and give you that nice glow we all want to have. I always start my day off with a large glass of water flavored with lemon essential oils. The lemon assists in the detoxification process, which is an added bonus. I fill my water glass up the night before and leave it out by my workout clothes. I feel that drinking at room temperature does not shock my body as much right away in the morning, but whatever floats your boat.
It is also important to stay hydrated throughout the day. Do you know that your skin is 64% water? Since your skin contains so much water, it is important that it does not get dehydrated. While the verdict is still out whether or not water makes a difference in your skin, I am confident that it does. My skin tends to get an ashy look if I do not drink enough water. I think I better go drink a glass of H2O right now!
Wash Your Face at Night
Ladies, it is imperative that you wash your face every night. The last thing you need is for all the junk of the day to stay on your face all night. Washing your face not only removes your makeup. It also removes the dirt and other environmental toxins that accumulate throughout the day. Your face needs to exfoliate naturally by shedding the dead skin. If your makeup is left on your face, that cannot happen. That can cause a dull appearance or flaky dry skin. Yuck! The most important reason for washing your face is that your skin repairs itself at night. You need clean skin in order for the products to absorb and work their magic.
I use two different products to wash my skin. I am going through some lovely hormonal changes and have noticed that my skin is breaking out more. I have never had an issue with acne in my life. I turn 35 and all hell breaks loose!
This is what I use to wash my face at night. This bar is one of my miracle products. It contains charcoal, so it sucks out all of the toxins from your pores. Charcoal can be drying, so make sure you use a really good moisturizer.
If my skin is extra dry, I will skip the charcoal and use a nourishing cream cleanser. This cleanser is lightweight, yet deeply moisturizing. The creamy formula contains witch hazel to tone skin, and coconut oil and aloe to help hydrate. I also use this in the morning.
Invest in a Good Eye Cream
Let’s face it, as working moms we never get enough sleep. While I can cover up the lack of sleep with caffeine, it takes a miracle to get rid of the dark circles under my eyes. I have tried so many products out there and they either don’t work or irritate my contacts. I find that just like my body, my eyes tend to do best with products that contain caffeine. I recently started using this product and I absolutely love it!!! Check out the reviews, if you don’t believe me. I also love the slight cooling effect I feel when I put it on. I love it when I can feel my products working. Money well spent!
Skip the Blow Drying
I absolutely hate blowing my hair. It is partially because no matter how hard I try, I cannot get it to look even close to how it looks when I get it done in the salon. So frustrating! I used to be the girl who would wash her hair every day and then spend time blow drying and then flat ironing. Then, I got lazy one summer and just decided that I did not want to do it anymore. Since a dry bar every week was not in the budget, I started to let my hair air dry. I thought my hair would look horrible, but with the right products it looked awesome.
There are a few different products that I have tried and liked. I am still looking for a dry shampoo that I can recommend, so if you have a favorite let me know. I was using a salt spray to give you those nice beauty waves, but sadly it had a lot of toxins. I am not using it anymore. Thankfully, I found a safer option that works even better than the one that I was using.
I have pretty straight hair, but this product gives me nice texture and a little wave. Now, I can have beach hair whenever I want!
Keep Makeup Simple
This is another one of those lessons that I wishes I learned a lot sooner. I used to spend a lot of time in the morning putting on makeup. I had all of my Bare Mineral containers and brushes and way too many colors of makeup to chose from. Prior to discovering Beautycounter I had moved to a tinted moisturizer. Unfortunately, Bare Minerals is not as safe as they claim. It was okay but I did not really like the feel of it on my skin. I am really loving the Tint Skin and use it every morning, unless I am too lazy for makeup. Yes, I have those days too!
Outside of the foundation, I use eye shadow, cream blush, mascara and you cannot forget the lipstick. I stick to the same colors during the week and will sometimes switch it up during the weekend. I look for products that are easy to blend, stay put all day and don’t irritate my already sensitive skin. I prefer a more natural look, so that helps keep things simple as well.
These days, my morning routine is pretty quick and I still look and feel pretty! What are some of your beauty secrets for saving time?
